Pest Control in Northern Utah & Southern Idaho

Intrusions by pests typically occur when they search for necessities such as sustenance, hydration, or refuge. They might be attracted to leftover food or waste left unattended. Accumulated water, whether outdoors due to rainfall or indoors due to plumbing issues, can also serve as a magnet for these creatures. In some cases, pests invade homes merely in search of a haven. Vulnerable areas like fissures in the foundation or damaged window screens can serve as entry points for them.

At Defend Pest and Lawn, we prioritize your family’s safety, including your children. Our pest control methods are designed to be effective against pests while minimizing risk to humans and pets.

We use pesticides approved by regulatory bodies and apply them in a manner that limits exposure. However, keeping children and pets away from treated areas is always a good idea until the recommended re-entry time has passed.

Furthermore, we also offer a range of eco-friendly and organic pest control solutions that are less toxic and safer around children.

Remember, the best defense against pests is prevention. Regular maintenance, proper sanitation, and sealing potential entry points can go a long way in keeping pests out of your home.

If you have any specific concerns or questions about our pest control methods or the safety of your children, please don’t hesitate to ask. We’re here to help ensure your home is safe and pest-free.

We understand that needing pest control services during the winter might seem counterintuitive. However, it’s important to note that pests don’t disappear when temperatures drop. Here’s why you need pest control in the winter:

Pests Seek Shelter: As the weather gets colder, pests look for warm places to survive, and your home can become an attractive refuge. They can find their way into your home through small cracks or holes.

Some Pests are Active in Winter: While some pests hibernate or become less active, others pose problems. For instance, pests like cockroaches, pharaoh ants, and spiders are more prominent in winter.

Prevent Infestations: Regular pest control in the winter can help prevent a full-blown infestation come spring. It’s easier to prevent an infestation than to get rid of one.

Year-Round Protection: Most pest control services recommend quarterly visits yearly to ensure you’re completely protected. This ensures that certain seasonal pests don’t thrive in or around your home as seasons and temperatures change.

We suggest you look for these signs to identify a bed bug infestation:

Bites: Itchy red rashes with a dark red center, often in a line or group.

Dark Specks: Check mattress seams for dark specks, which are bedbug excrement.

Empty Exoskeletons: Look for pale yellow skins around the bed; these are shed skins.

Rusty Stains: Small blood stains on the bedspread or sheets could be caused by crushed bugs.

If you find any of these signs, professional extermination is recommended. Remember, prevention is key. Regularly clean your bedding and reduce clutter around your bed.
